I started blogging

After many different experiences in life, I decided to write down my ideas — a flashback to a kid in the Philippines saving up for computer-shop time, and a hello from present-day life in Germany.

After experiencing many different things in life, I decided to write down my ideas and experiences. Maybe someone will be inspired or learn from what I share here. Please bear with my writing, as I don't really like writing.

A little flashback.

When I was a kid, I hated writing projects because my handwriting is really bad and it looks like a group of chickens ran into the paper — and that's why I decided to learn to use a computer. I knew that I could create a better assignment using MS Word. I started creating my projects with Microsoft Office. In our high school, you could only use a computer during Computer subjects, and that was very limited because there were only 10 computers and some of them were not working, or if you were lucky, the mouse ball was missing because some naughty students would hide it or play with it. The first OS that I used was Windows 98. I was only able to use it in school or borrow a computer from my cousin. The time came that computer shops became available in our town. You had to pay 10–15 Php (Philippines Peso) to use the computer for an hour of use. It didn't even have internet during that time. Some of the computers had Encarta encyclopedia or dictionary installed (all of the applications were cracked). I have to stay in the school until the closing time of the computer rooms so that I can use the computer.

I gained more interest in computers when I experienced playing games with them. The first game that I played was pinball. I also tried playing Counter Strike (1.3) and Dota (Defense of the Ancients) Map (6.49), and that's when my addiction to playing computer games happened. During my high school days, I had to save money from my daily allowance just to go to computer shops to play games. My parents were always angry with me every time they knew that I went home late because I went to a computer shop. Little did they know that in the future I will be working as a Software engineer. Kakacomputer mo yan! (Because you always use computer!)

Present time

Today I'm currently living here in Germany with my wife. I decided to write my ideas and experiences hoping that someone will learn something from it — or maybe my future self and my future kids (if we're blessed to have kids) will be able to read this. So if you are reading this, I hope that you are warm and safe.
